Why This Work Matters
When our daughter Ava Grace was born, everything changed.
During pregnancy, we were told something no parent ever wants to hear “something’s wrong.” We later learned she had Turner Syndrome, a rare genetic condition with less than a 2% chance of survival before birth.
The day she was born, we watched as a team of doctors worked to stabilize her fragile breathing. And when we finally saw her, we noticed something we hadn’t expected—she also had a limb difference.
In an instant, our world shifted.
Instead of celebration, we felt uncertainty, and had questions about how the world would treat her… and whether she would feel like she belonged in it.
One day, Ava told us that she felt like she was the only person in the world like her..and she didn’t like it.
But then we took her to a conference for children with limb differences. Surrounded by kids and adults just like her, everything changed.
Her confidence grew.
Her smile returned.
She realized she wasn’t alone.
And in that moment, we saw the power of belonging.
That experience made something clear:
Too many people navigating disability feel unseen, unsupported, and alone.
That has to change.
Project Grace was created to build more spaces like the one that changed Ava’s life…spaces where:
Connection replaces isolation
Inclusion is the starting point
Every person has a seat at the table
We believe everyone deserves not just a seat at the table…But the power to shape it.
This is bigger than one family.
It’s about building a world where every ability is valued, every story is seen, and no one walks alone.
And we’re just getting started.
